KIX is an American hard rock/glam metal band formed in 1977 in Baltimore, Maryland. Known for their energetic, hook-driven sound and vibrant stage presence, they are considered one of the most underrated bands of the 1980s hard rock heyday. Their energetic, driving hard rock features elements of punk and pop. Unlike many Californian glam bands, KIX had a dirtier, heavier guitar sound, closer to AC/DC or AEROSMITH, but with keyboards characteristic of the 1980s. They are considered the "kings of the underground" of the 1980s. They had a huge fan base and devoted audience, but always fell just short of becoming world-class superstars due to their less aggressive label promotion. The most touching beauty of KIX is that they were never the number one mainstream act. They remained the "kings of the underground," a band adored but forever overshadowed by the big boys. It's precisely this underappreciation that makes them special. If you know KIX, you're in. They're a secret club, entered by a guitar riff, not a hit parade.
KIX is the timeless energy of a Saturday night, bathed in neon, seasoned with a sharp solo, and served with a smile from ear to ear. This is the band that reminds you: rock 'n' roll should be dangerous, fast, and insanely fun.
