 Cardigans is a Swedish quartet from Jönköping, formed in 1992. They began as indie pop with guitars and melancholic melodies, then unexpectedly emerged as one of the most recognizable bands of the 90s. Their music features Nina Persson's soft, slightly detached vocals, which envelop the listener, and a light, almost ethereal instrumental base that blends pop, rock, and a touch of retro. Nina Persson's soft, angelic vocals are often paired with ironic, and sometimes dark, lyrics. Their biggest hit, "Lovefool," was featured on the soundtrack to the film "Romeo + Juliet." It brought the band worldwide fame and a Grammy nomination. The band became one of the most successful Swedish acts after ABBA and Roxette. “Cardigans” can be different: ironic and tender, cold and cozy at the same time - like a Scandinavian winter, which has both snow and light.
