 A French singer and actress of Italian descent, she was a global star of the 1960s and 1970s and one of the best-selling female artists in music history. Her real name was Yolanda Cristina Gigliotti. As a child, she suffered from a serious illness (she underwent eye surgery), which led to her nickname "Dalida" (after the artist Salvador Dalí).

 Dalida possessed a striking, exotic southern beauty: dark skin, thick black hair, large expressive eyes, and sensual lips. She was petite, but possessed a powerful energy that filled any stage. Her style was 60s and 70s glamour: bright minidresses, long gloves, huge eyelashes, and bold makeup, which later became her signature. Dalida had a low, husky, velvety voice with a wide range. She could sing both passionate, dramatic ballads and fiery dance hits. Her performance style was intensely emotional, sensual, and sincere. She didn't just sing - she lived each song, pouring her whole soul, pain, and joy into it.

Dalida remains a cult figure. In France and around the world, she is remembered not only as the queen of chanson, but also as a symbol of the artist's tragic fate. Her voice is considered a symbol of the "golden era" of French chanson.
