Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) is a British rock band formed in 1970 in Birmingham. Its founders were Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood (both of the band Move). The name reflects the idea of ​​"electric light" – a fusion of rock and classical music using strings, synthesizers, and orchestral arrangements. Jeff Lynne served as the band's primary songwriter, producer, and leader for almost its entire history. E.L.O. is one of the most successful bands of the 1970s, selling over 50 million records. Their style influenced power pop, indie rock, and symphonic rock. Their sound is often described as symphonic rock or art pop. In 2017, Jeff Lynne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of E.L.O. E.L.O. is a daring experiment that has become a classic. Jeff Lynne took the legacy of the Beatles and Wagner, blended it with rock 'n' roll and electronica, and created a genre without equal. This is music where the symphony orchestra sounds not like an accompaniment, but like a full-fledged rock instrument. Their sound is a dense, multi-layered avalanche of harmonies. Each song is a mini-opera, where strings, choir, and guitar riffs weave into a single, powerful flow.
